Johnson Building - New Garden House

London, United Kingdom

The project of the Johnson Building situated in Hatton Garden, the historical jewellery district in London consists in the restoration of a 6-storey office building on the north side, which will be expanded with a new construction having the same physical proportions as the existing layout.

In collaboration with the lighting consultants of Equation Lighting Design, the design teams of iGuzzini UK and iGuzzini Italia developed and produced a range of customised products based on the principles of the Light Air system. The project asked for a linear system with direct and indirect emission to be used individually or in combination to form a line of continuous light.

Moreover, the type of building and the energy saving legislation required the presence of sensors to adjust the illumination level in the rooms according to use and number of occupiers.

The fittings are regulated by a presence sensor installed inside the lighting fixture.
The modules were pre-programmed with an adequate setting to adjust light levels to daylight conditions. In absence of people in the offices the illumination level is lowered and after that the lighting fixtures are switched off completely.
