iGuzzini, with approximately 1050 employees and a turnover of approximately 190 million Euro (2006), is one of the largest companies in the lighting technology industry in Europe. The company has branches in 10 countries and operates in 64 countries across the world. Its head office and main manufacturing sites are located in Recanati, on the Adriatic coast.

The Swiss branch of iGuzzini, which currently has 15 employees, was opened in Zurich in May 2000. In Switzerland iGuzzini is particularly specialised in the lighting of chains of shops, outdoor facades and museums. The main strength of the company lies in the development and implementation of customised solutions which have been specially adapted to suit each specific project.

iGuzzini works closely with researchers, doctors, sociologists and physicists, analysing the physiological and psychological effects of artificial light on human beings. In recent projects, such as the Schattdorf service station (which opened in 2007) on the St. Gothard highway, “biodynamic light” has been used to optimise the lighting scheme, thereby improving the well-being and the driving ability of its visitors.
