The Palace of Expositions
In collaboration with architects Firouz Galdo, author of the preliminary project, Michele De Lucchi, artistic director and author of lighting project, signs and furnishings, and Paolo Desideri, author of the executive project for the Palace and the project for the Greenhouse, iGuzzini plays an important role: over 2,700 iGuzzini fittings, of which 400 are special products, illuminate the PalaExpò.
Converted in a flexible container designed to be reorganised and customised according to future exhibition requirements, the Palace of Exhibitions required a lighting project based on the same general principle of mobility applied to the entire refurbishment works. These requirements were met with standard products from our catalogue, integrated with ad hoc fittings. Motorised suspended panels with adjustable height were created for the exhibition area, allowing to project light from different angles. They consist in a single system of rails and Tecnica spotlights situated on the sides of the panel, and downlighters installed in the centre. Bi- and three-dimensional artworks and spaces can be simultaneously illuminated according to dimensions, positions and typologies. A luminous cylinder with a minimalist form was realised for the connection areas.
A scenographic lighting for the Greenhouse: a space with a peculiar charm, a building with a glazed roof and a steel-cast iron structure, for which iGuzzini developed an 8-light suspended element. The diffused light produced by the suspended fittings creates a glass-box effect from the outside.
In interiors, Ledplus downlighters were chosen to illuminate the walls with pilaster strips.
In exteriors, Platea floodlights installed between the glass and the roof and Light Up recessed fittings indicate the entrance on Via Milano. The Linealuce installed on the cornices follow the external perimeter of the Greenhouse, exalting the travertine stone volumes of the building.
