American architect and MacArthur Fellow Jeanne Gang, FAIA, is the founding principal of Studio Gang.

A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Chevalier de l’Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur, Jeanne is internationally renowned for a design process that foregrounds the relationships between individuals, communities, and environments. Her diverse body of work spans scales and typologies, expanding beyond architecture’s conventional boundaries to pursuits ranging from the development of stronger materials to fostering stronger communities.

Her approach has resulted in some of today’s most compelling architecture, including Aqua Tower in Chicago (Illinois), the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership of Kalamazoo (Michigan), and Writers Theatre of Glencoe (Illinois). She is currently designing major projects throughout the Americas and Europe, including the Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation at the American Museum of Natural History in New York; a unified campus for the California College of the Arts in San Francisco; and the new United States Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil.

A recipient of the 2013 National Design Award (Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum), Jeanne was named the 2016 Architect of the Year by the Architectural Review. In 2017, she was honored with the Louis I. Kahn Memorial Award and a Fellowship from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Widely published and acclaimed, her work has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale, Chicago Architecture Biennial, Museum of Modern Art, and Art Institute of Chicago

LightOn is a conference series conceived and developed in 2015 by iGuzzini and the MAXXI Architecture museum. The three-year initiative involves well-known architects from all over the world taking part in a series of lectures aimed at sharing their vision on design, technology and light. iGuzzini’s headquarters in Recanati and the MAXXI museum in Rome turn into stages where great contemporary designers come to share the approaches and contexts that define their professional careers, particularly in terms of lighting. The guests featured so far are Kjetil Traedel Thorsen (Snøhetta, Oslo-New York), Yoshiharu Tsukamoto (Atelier Bow Wow, Tokyo), Sergei Tchoban (Tchoban Voss Architekten, Berlin), Winy Maas (MVRDV, Rotterdam), David Adjaye (Adjaye Associates, London-New York), Louisa Hutton (Sauerbruch Hutton, London-Berlin), Kazuyo Sejima (SANAA, Tokyo) and Peter Eisenman (Eisenman Architects, New York, on October 6th).

The architects enrolled in the Macerata Professional Order gain 2 CFPs for attending. A certificate of attendance can be issued upon request to all other attendees belonging to other Territorial Orders.

The student attendees from the School of Architecture and Design in Ascoli Piceno and those from the University of Camerino receive 1 CFU for attending each meeting. Students taking the Architecture Engineering Undergraduate Course at the Marche Polytechnic University also gain credits for attending – these are granted in accordance with the terms and conditions of their course.
