Across industries, businesses need to adapt more efficient workspaces and ensure employees feel safe. Professionals from all disciplines are reconsidering the future of how we work and whether office layouts as we know them make sense in our new normal.

Prof. Ellen Kathrine Hansen Aalborg University

Ellen Kathrine Hansen is an architect, PhD, associate professor, co-founder and head of the awarded MSc programme and research group in lighting design. She is a leading figure in the field of transdisciplinary design research with more than 25 years of experience. Ellen has been leading the internationally recognized lighting concept Double Dynamic Lighting.

Mieke van der Velden Beersnielsen

Trained as an interior architect at the Royal Institute of Fine Arts in The Hague in 2006, she gained a M.Sc. in Architectural Lighting Design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Since 2015 Mieke has been part of the team of Beersnielsen Lighting Designers in Rotterdam. In 2019 Mieke received the IALD 40 under 40 award, highlighting that her career accomplishments have helped to characterize her as part of a new generation of lighting design talent.

Arfon Davies Arup

Arfon is a Lighting Designer, Project Director, and one of three founding members of the lighting practice at ARUP. He leads the UK Lighting studio of 40 designers across 7 locations. Arfon is an acknowledged expert in the field of lighting design and technology, with a particular passion in daylight design. He believes lighting defines user experience of space and architecture, also that lighting plays a vital role in positively influencing our health and wellbeing within the built environment.

William de Boer UNStudio

William joined UNStudio in 2010 as a Product Designer and Interior Architect where he has led several recent product developments including the StandTable in collaboration with Prooff. In addition to directing the product design team, William also has an advisory role in the interior design of the architectural projects in parallel with the development of concepts for customized products integrated into the design.

Filippo Lodi UNStudio

Filippo is an Associate Director and Senior Architect at UNStudio. Currently, Filippo leads UNSx, UNStudio’s in-house innovation think tank and experience lab that is grounded in architectural, urban, and product design. This team of architects, computational designers, product designers, creative strategists, VR/AR specialists, and sustainability consultants experiments with new methodologies, technologies, processes, and materials to design solutions for the shared human experience.

Ray Molony Moderator

Ray Molony is the Head of Content at the Build Back Better Awards, an initiative to celebrate and reward innovation, creativity, environmental leadership, and social purpose in the built environment. He was the co-founder of Revo Media, whose brands included the LuxLive exhibition, LuxLive Middle East, Lux Review, Lighting magazine, and the Lighting Design Awards. Ray studied engineering at Dublin City University.
