The ceiling is the preferred location for luminaires and their positioning depends on the size of the room and how the workstations are organised. The main aim is to guarantee visual comfort with adequate light levels, balanced luminance and the absence of direct glare or glare reflected by the furniture or computer monitors.
For office lighting indoor ceiling-mounted luminaires and indoor recessed luminaires are most commonly used, with fluorescent lamps which have electronic ballasts. In the versions compatible with the DALI protocol, together with the light control systems, the light flow can be automatically regulated in the quantity necessary and for the time actually needed, further reducing energy consumption.
Luminaires intended for office lighting have reflectors and lenses which allow the elimination of glare in working environments, in accordance with international technical standards.
