The Genoa Saint George Bridge
Infrastructure
Genova faces the sea to the south, so when the day ends and night hasn’t yet begun, the light bounces off the water and reaches here. The concrete piers aren’t square but elliptical, with curved roots, and so the transition from light to shadow follows the curve and becomes gentle. It’s a caress of light, a flirtation in which the wind takes part, because the steel in the final shell ends in jagged edges, the border frays into vibrations like a bird’s wing.
