last update: 04/11/2025Description
The Citygrid On Pole Controller that transforms a DALI luminaire into a smart, adjustable, motion-controlled device.
It can be installed directly on the pole the iGuzzini luminaire is mounted on, even if it is a pre-existing one.
Thanks to detection algorithms and the angle of the 2 sensors it is fitted with, the device reliably detects pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles.
The Citygrid On Pole Controller with sensors is equipped with a 868 MHz mesh wireless communication system that uses the 6LoWPAN protocol and a high security encryption system. Thanks to a Dongle X678 (accessory) device, the device parameters can be read and changed using the "Citygrid" app on an Android device with Bluetooth.
A Citygrid installation can consist of any combination of Citygrid Controllers, including the Citygrid Zhaga controller, the Citygrid Zhaga controller with sensor, the Citygrid On Pole controller, and any "Citygrid enabled" or Gateway device. The system can operate:
- independently, with Plug&Play (non connected), with default parameters that can be changed using the app + Dongle.
- by interconnecting luminaires in a mesh network, with Plug&Play with default parameters that can be changed using the app + Dongle.
- by interconnecting luminaires in a mesh network and connecting to the cloud with a X679 gateway, with initial commissioning from app + Dongle. If the cloud-connected system is used, monitoring and remote management can be exploited thanks to the Dashboard Citygrid with analytics functions, reporting and email alerts in case of malfunctioning. Third party systems can also be integrated thanks to the APIs available (e.g. GIS system and software interfaces for Smart City).
Features:
- 2 integrated PIR motion sensors.
- D4i and DALI-2 (supplies 10 mA), compatible with iGuzzini luminaires.
- Communication through IEEE 802.15.4 standard 6LoWPAN wireless protocol.
- AES-128 encrypted wireless communication.
- Controller temperature measurement.
- Lout commanded voltage output (interrupts luminaire power supply).
- LED driver power measurement via current sensor on Lout output (requires initial calibration). Measurement range between 5 and 800 W @ P.F. =1. P.F. range between 0.1 and 1.0.
- Malfunction detection.
- Integrated RTC and astronomic clock.
- Non-volatile data, saved on an internal memory.
- FOTA (firmware over-the-air) update.
- High surge protection 6kV-6kV.

Description
The Citygrid On Pole Controller is supplied with a pole application base that is concave on one side: the base is fixed to the pole using a stainless steel band (supplied) or 2 pass-through screws (not supplied).
A hole must be drilled in the pole to allow the cable to pass through it. The Citygrid On Pole Controller is coupled to the base with a “slider" motion and secured with a frontal screw (supplied).
Installation height: between 3 and 6 m, recommended height: between 4 and 5 m.
Detection range at a height of 5 m: 9.2 m transversal, 18.4 m longitudinal. Values are indicative, consult the images and tables in the instruction sheet.
Maximum distance for radio communication between controllers: < 200 m (in a straight line with no obstacles).
For eventual clarifications regarding the system configuration, contact iGuzzini.;

Wiring
Equipped with a 6m long 5x0.75 mm2 cable.
The 5 conductors are: (1)Lin, (2)N, (3)Lout, (4)DA, (5)DA.
Lin and N are connected to the mains network; Lout, N and DA DA are connected to the luminaire
Consider the eventual need for IP connectors/junctions/terminal blocks for connecting up in the door/inside the pole (non supplied by iGuzzini).

Notes
"Plug&Play” controller with sensors operation and default values:
- With presence detected or a wireless command received from the same luminaire group: light level at 100%.
- Remain time after absence: 3 minutes.
- with no motion detected: 25% of maximum light level.
- Dim up time 25%-100%: 3 seconds.
- Dim down time 100%-25%: 10 seconds.
- "green” is the default luminaire group (*).
(*) All the luminaires that belong to the same colour group, within a radius of 80 m of each other, will respond in a coordinated way. This facilitates the "Plug&Play" installation without requiring commissioning for small residential areas, car parks and cycle paths.
Operates at temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, and up to 2000 m a.s.l.
Consult the pole manufacturer for more information about drilling and an eventual successive protection.
