Cestello, an icon for the "Made in Italy" business

Cestello, an icon for the "Made in Italy" business

iGuzzini’s product in the top 50+!

The Italian exhibition "50+! The great game of industry" continues its raid and moves towards Pontedera, in Tuscany. The Piaggio Museum will inaugurate the seventh leg of the Italian tour on the 13th of July, an occasion to renew and enrich the experience with new and amazing narratives.

An exploration of the Italian business culture, between art, design, and society, which is articulated in 50 and more objects - selected from collections of archives and museums associated with Museimpresa - that have made the history of national industrial design from the nineteenth century until today.

The exhibition by Francesca Molteni, set up in the 3000 square meters of the former workshop of the Pontedera industrial complex, introduces in this edition the amazing stories of the Liquor Witch bottle, the metal punch of the Paper Museum, the letterbox of the Italian Postal services provider, the ETR 250 train of the national Railways, the Minerva of De Chirico of Fintecna, the Alfa Romeo Giulia TI Super of the Cozzi Brothers, the Fiocchi Team of Fiocchi Munitions and the Cartastorie, the largest historical list of bank records in the world of the Fondazione Banco di Napoli.

Among the selected items, the iGuzzini Cestello – displayed as a "hidden artwork" - a true archetype in the history of lighting fixtures that allows flexible and customizable lighting effects combining individually adjustable light sources that blend general and accent lighting. The device was designed by Gae Aulenti and Piero Castiglioni for the Palazzo Grassi in Venice in the '80s and has since been re-thought in the '90s by iGuzzini for industrial production combining product innovation, technological quality and aesthetic refinement. The technological upgrades and the range extension that the product has inspired over the year, now available in a new LED version offering different formats – projection, suspension, wall mounted and floor lamp – strengthen the original and creative concept of the two undisputed protagonists of contemporary architecture.
