Modigliani and Art Nègre

The Amedeo Modigliani Institute organizes a journey to discover the influences of African art on Amedeo Modigliani's work at the Palazzo Montani of Spoleto during the 60^th edition of the Festival of the Two Worlds.
The insight into the life and works of the artist from Livorno is set in the magical atmosphere of the parisian Belle Époque and, through the socio-religious themes that fascinated and inspired the artistic avant-gardes of the first decades of the twentieth century, it helps to understand the genesis of the aesthetics of one of the greatest Italian artists of the last century.

The exhibition crosses and overlaps wooden sculptures and tribal masks belonging to the private collection of Anna Alberghina and Bruno Albertino and contemporary paintings by the Tanzanian artist George Lilanga with some of the most famous masterpieces by Modigliani presented in high definition thanks to the Modlight technology system developed by the Amedeo Modigliani Institute. Among the works exhibited, of particular interest are the unpublished works in the "Guests of Honour" section, two drawings and four canvases attributable to Modigliani and Picasso.

The exhibition is an interactive and experiential itinerary realised with the most innovative virtual reality and compositing video technologies. It is illuminated by Palco projectors offered by iGuzzini for the occasion. The chosen equipment - with a colour temperature of 3000 K and a colour rendering index of 90 - allows to manipulate and adapt the luminous flux to the exposed works, combining aesthetics uniformity with the exhibition and great functional flexibility.

The exhibition by Cesare Pippi, held at Casa Modigliani of Spoleto, is the first appointment of the activities organized to celebrate the centenary of the bohemian artist’s death (1920-2020) and it is on display until July the 30^th .
