Puju Tea Space

"Mr Pu Yin lived in solitude in the mountains waiting for refined scholars and waiting for his best friends to make tea".
This phrase was the inspiration for Puju's founder and Shiyi Design who designed the Puju Tea Space on the banks of the Qiantang River in Hangzhou. 

The interior designer expresses the Oriental aesthetic spirit with contemporary restraint, creating a tea space where people can talk placidly and immerse themselves completely in tranquility. Soft, low-level lighting caresses the curved lines of this minimalist space and, like the open, empty space, offers people maximum freedom of imagination. In fact, the original intention of the design is to reduce the perception of the structure of the space itself and make it as coherent and natural as possible, and in this, light, both natural and artificial, plays the main role.  

The first step of the Tea Room experience, of course, is 'entering'. The light coming in through the window along the corridor guides visitors to the tearoom; the reflections of the water on both sides invite them to continue and the light relieves the perception of the length of the corridor. During the evening hours, the creation of the same soft atmosphere is provided by Laser recessed luminaires.
At the end of the corridor, guests arrives at a harmonious and meditative ambience in which the art of arranging flowers, water and light come together. On the side of the room is a full-height window that can be partially screened to concentrate the light.  

In the Wenxi Tea Room, the artificial lighting proceeds by small flashes: the Palco inOut projector casts the shadows of leaves on to the walls to duplicate the poetic effect given by the presence of nature. Illuminance levels are very moderate and the light warm: a colour temperature of 2700K was generally used.
In the Lingyin Tea Room, Laser recessed luminaires focus lighting on the essential elements: the low table and cups.

The space also integrates other functions, including the display of objects and products that are related to tea culture. The design not only keeps the functions separate, but also ensures that the spirit of the space is maintained. The products are distributed in sequence, with the display of tea utensils and sweets integrated with the overall space, which is as pure and essential as the light provided by Palco (Ø19) using medium optics.
The Puju Tea Room provides the ideal ambience and light to slow down the pace of life.
