ADI Design Index 2019

“Smart lighting for the Scrovegni Chapel” and “Social Lightscapes Workshops: Social research in design for lighting professionals” are amongst the 200 projects and products selected by the ADI Permanent Design Observatory for publication in the ADI Design Index 2019, presented on 14 October at the Leonardo Da Vinc National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan.

The 2019 ADI Design Index is the first volume in the two-year cycle that groups together the products preselected for the ADI 2020 Compasso d'Oro award. This award, initially established in 1954 by “La Rinascente” and then given to the ADI which has managed its organization since 1956, is the most prestigious award for the production and design quality of Italian goods, services, processes and systems. The award that is shared by all the winning products, has also led to the generation of the largest historical collection of Italian design in existence which, in 2004, was given "national heritage” status. In addition to shortlisting the candidates for the Compasso D’Oro award, since 2009 the ADI Design Index is also responsible for selecting the annual National Award for Innovation sponsored by the President of the Italian Republic that was won, in 2018, by the Low Voltage track-mounted Palco projector (design: artec3 Studio).
