At the Pompidou, an exhibition on MiAS Architects, the designers of iGuzzini’s branch

An exhibition of models, drawings and engravings from the Barcelona-based studio’s signature projects

Until 30th April 2021, the National Museum of Modern Art at the Pompidou Centre in Paris will be exhibiting drawings and models from key projects created by the MiAS Architects studio as part of the “MiAS Exhibition” of which iGuzzini is a sponsor. This exhibition, which is destined to become part of the Museum’s Permanent Collection, is dedicated to the initial moment in the creative process that led to the Spanish studio - founded in 2000 by Josep Mias and acclaimed at an international level for its innovative, experimental work - designing projects like the 22@ Plug-in Building, the Barceloneta Market, the Torrebaró residential building, the Telecom headquarters in Andorra and the iGuzzini’s branch headquarters in Spain.

Il Cielo” (The Sky) as it is called by Josep Mias on account of its aerostatic globe-shaped central block that always seems to be one step away from leaving the ground, is an example of best practice for its sustainability-focused construction that has housed iGuzzini since 2011. A special solar shield in aluminium panels envelops the glass surface, allowing light to enter in Winter and protecting against direct sunlight in the Summer. This guarantees not only a high level of visual comfort, but also significant energy savings thanks to its central patio that acts as a ventilation shaft in warmer months, while accommodating and preserving warm air in the colder ones.
