The iGuzzini downlight at the ‘Italian Design’ exhibition organised by the ADI
On October 30th and 31st, the G20 Heads of State and Government Summit was held for the first time ever in Italy, in Rome. The members of G20 and a number of other countries, as well as the representatives of several major international organisations all met in the Roma Convention Center-La Nuvola for an international summit. This year the meeting was headed by Italy and it focused on three priorities for action: People, Planet, Prosperity.
To welcome the representatives of the major world economies, the ADI and ADI Design Museum organised the 'Italian Design’ exhibition for the Minister of Culture and the Delegation for the Italian Presidency of the G20 with the aim of showing the key role design plays in promoting an image of Italy that is recognised throughout the world. The ADI executive committee therefore identified - from recent editions of the ADI Design Index and Compasso d’Oro Award - 41 Made in Italy items that reflect the three main inspirations behind Italian design: Innovation, Responsibility and Creativity. As these are precious tools for helping to develop a better future, these principles exist alongside the three G20 pillars and are also the key to the exhibition staged at La Nuvola and the Palazzo dei Congressi in Rome.
The Convention Center-La Nuvola, in the EUR district of Rome, was designed by Studio Fuksas and inaugurated in 2016. The lighting design by Speirs+Major included the use of iGuzzini standard and special luminaires for the architectural elements 'Teca' and 'Nuvola'. For more information, click here.
In these spaces, Italian design excellence was represented also by Blade R, which was selected for the
ADI Design Index 2020 and is currently in contention for the forthcoming Compasso d’Oro. With its intensely innovative character, this iGuzzini recessed luminaire also enhances our well-being by activating safety services, entertainment, comfort and sustainability through smart technology.
