Born out of the UNESCO International Year of Light 2015, LewesLight is a community-orientated event, very much in line with iGuzzini’s desire to promote and enhance social wellbeing through responsible lighting.
LewesLight is a design-led festival bringing together creative lighting design installations and Lewes’s historic buildings and wonderful setting in the South Downs National Park in the UK, a designated Dark Skies Reserve.
The festival is a promoter of education and young talent, being based on a strong partnership with the Sussex Downs College in the UK. Some of the installations are created by students and young people starting out, being a source of great opportunities and mentoring from well-established professionals.
The third edition of the festival will be taking place this weekend (13th-15th October), transforming the town and its beautiful historic architecture through spectacular use of light. iGuzzini had the opportunity to support the event for the third year running working together with great lighting designers such as Design-Light, Pinto Lighting Design, Studio Fractal and Nulty Lighting, to name just a few.
The main festival event is free and open to all, so if you have the opportunity, do attend this great celebration of culture, history and the environment through the medium of light, art and design.
