iGuzzini illuminates The Boxer and Victory, unprecedented encounter of two masterpieces

During the press conference at the Auditorium of Santa Giulia in Brescia, a preview of the installation The Boxer and Victory was presented, an evocative artistic project set up on the occasion of Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023.

Speakers included Francesca Bazoli (President of the Brescia Musei Foundation), Stefano Karadjov (Director of the Brescia Musei Foundation), Stéphane Verger (Director of the National Roman Museum), Stefano Lucchini (Chief Institutional Affairs and External Communication Officer Intesa Sampaolo) and Laura Castelletti (Mayor of Brescia).

From Madrid, the curator, architect and artist Juan Navarro Baldeweg, who also designed the lighting scenarios, joined in.

Open to the public from 12 July to 26 October 2023, the project was curated by the Municipality of Brescia, together with the Fondazione Brescia Musei and the Museo Nazionale Romano, and exhibited in the Nuovo Capitolium, in the Brescia Romana Archaeological Park (UNESCO site).

The Boxer at Rest, from the National Roman Museum, and the Winged Victory of Brescia are absolute masterpieces of antiquity, two bronzes from the Hellenistic and Roman periods respectively, exhibited together for the first time. An unprecedented encounter that bears witness to the union of Culture and the culture of light, in a dialogue that enhances the extraordinary beauty of the two bronze statues as a whole and in the smallest details.

Giving light to the universal artistic heritage in order to make it accessible for the contemporary public is a privilege and a responsibility that iGuzzini welcomes with enthusiasm.
