During the 18th Architecture Biennale in Venice, iGuzzini illuminates the pavilions of France and the United Arab Emirates. At the same time, within the framework of the AFEX Prize (Association of French Architects for Export), iGuzzini France-Belux director Renaud Lièvre was called to be part of the professional jury that selected the winners of the prestigious award, presented at MIPIM last March.
The Grand Prize, announced on 18 May in the gardens of the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, was awarded to the agency Michèle & Miquel for their project The Dark Line in Taiwan. A special prize was also awarded to architect Marc Mimram for his work as a whole.
The Grand Prix AFEX for French Architecture in the World is organised every two years by the association of the same name to reward buildings constructed abroad by French architects who stand out for the quality of their design and execution. As part of the partnership between AFEX and iGuzzini, this year special attention was paid to the treatment of natural and artificial light in the candidate projects. The prizes awarded are the 'Grand Prix' and the 'Special Jury Prize'. The 10 selected projects were presented to an audience of experts and a conference was organised at the end of the event, followed by the award ceremony.
The Grand Prix AFEX, Special Jury Prizes and Palmarès Mentions will be presented this autumn at the Palais Royal in Paris, in an exhibition set up in the Cour d'Orléans. The exhibition will then begin its international tour through the embassy network.
The AFEX Grand Prix 2023 for French architecture in the world aims to contribute to the national and international influence of the architecture profession, rich in singular personalities who make architecture a culture, and to the influence of French architecture in the world.
