A beautiful workplace. KF 9 Place Vendome

About Project

Located in the first Arrondissement in Paris, the Place Vendome is one of the best known and most beautiful squares in the French capital. Built on the orders of Louis XIV, today it is a symbol of excellence, luxury and finance thanks to the prestigious institutions it houses that include the Ritz Hotel, the city's most exclusive jewellers, such as Van Cleef and Arpels, Cartier, Boucheron, Bulgari, Chopard, Rolex, Luis Vuitton and Chanel, and  the headquarters of several major companies and international banks.

Designed as a “Hotel Particulier Contemporain” by the team of architects, Naud & Poux, KF9 Place Vendome has a distinctive "shell within a shell" design, or better, a curving, light-coloured wall structure encased inside one of the most prestigious historical buildings in the Place Vendome. The interior design is conceived almost as a geological formation that boasts a consistent and highly rational organisation of space. Thanks to this sculpture-like structure, the architectural design succeeds in creating a kind of “urban re-composition” inside the original building that unites its very different spaces in a single, common identity. With a surface area of 2480 m², the complex covers two floors with high quality work environments. In addition to its offices and meeting rooms, the building also includes relaxation areas, terraces with views over internal courtyards and gardens, a canteen and fitness centre. Its distinctive design also makes it ideal for welcoming important international customers.

The exclusive character of the space is confirmed by the quality of the lighting. Light accompanies the building's minimalist and timeless spatial design, because it is both airy and diffuse. The artificial lighting also blends perfectly with the natural light, so the grazing effects of the Underscore Grazer luminaires seem to originate from the organic forms of the lantern. Underscore luminaire lines accompany the layered architecture of the walls, like the reflections of water on the sides of a canyon. And in the canteen, recessed Pixel pro luminaires create a gentle transition from indoors to outdoors, while the light strokes of the swivel Express Evo luminaires highlight the structure of the ceiling.

Most of the rooms are lit with DALI devices, especially the lobby and conference halls. This means that different lighting scenarios can be created to help these areas adapt to a wide range of situations and uses. The decision to adopt a DMX control system also means that natural light rhythms can be created, which reduces energy consumption levels drastically.
