Lorenzo Lotto. Il richiamo delle Marche

Between 19 October 2018 and 20 February 2019

The Renaissance painter is back into the limelight in the Marche region, his chosen land.

Between 19 October 2018 and 20 February 2019, Palazzo Buonaccorsi, home to the Macerata Civic Museum, will host the big exhibition “Lorenzo Lotto. Il richiamo delle Marche”. The exhibition will have all of Lotto’s works on display in the same place for the first time (even those that never got released): it will include works created locally which were then scattered around the world, being part of private collections as well as on display at the largest national museum.

Twenty-five of Lotto’s works are scattered throughout different museums or were intentionally left in the institutions they were created for. Along with Macerata, the cities and towns of Ancona, Cingoli, Jesi, Loreto, Mogliano, Monte San Giusto, Recanati, and Urbino will shape this scattered exhibition due to be experienced within the context of the Marches region, an area of renowned artistic and natural heritage.

In addition to having provided the lighting for the exhibition including works by the Venetian master and his fellows, housed in Palazzo Buonaccorsi, iGuzzini illuminates these masterpieces in their various permanent locations. Worth noting are the  Sacra Conversazione, also known as Lotto’s Altarpiece of the Halberd  at the Pinacoteca Comunale F. Podesti in Ancona; the Madonna del Rosario at the Sala degli Stemmi of the Palazzo Comunale of Cingoli; seven paintings at the Museo Pontificio Santa Casa in Loreto (Christ and the Adulteress, Saint Michael casting out Lucifer, The Adoration of the Child, The Sacrifice of Melchizedek, The Baptism of Christ, The Adoration of the Magi and The Presentation of Christ in the Temple) and the four paintings exhibited at the Museo Civico -Villa Colloredo Mels in Recanati (San Domenico polyptych, The Transfiguration of Christ, Saint James the Greater and the Annunciation)
