A full house at the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona (Italy): over 1,000 participants, both in person and online, attended Light for Future, the conference organized by iGuzzini to present new visions for the regeneration and development of urban and coastal areas.
On stage were prominent international figures, including architects Stefano Boeri and Benedetta Tagliabue, lighting designer Dean Skira, neuroscientist Andrea Bariselli, and astrophysicist and science communicator Edwige Pezzulli. Coordinated by journalist Marialuisa Pezzali from Radio 24 Il Sole 24 Ore.
Loeiza Cabaret, winner of the international Light for Future competition for young lighting designers, presented her graphic light project for the Passetto Staircase in Ancona.
During the conference, discussions focused on how light affects the brain, mood, spatial perception, and psycho-physical balance, with particular attention to waterfront contexts: open spaces, the day/night transition, and the interaction between architecture and nature. This perspective directly reflects the concept of biophilia, the deep human need to connect with nature.
The event opened with speeches from iGuzzini CEO Cristiano Venturini, followed by Stefano Capannelli, President of the Order of Engineers of Ancona, and Gloria Vitali, President of the Order of Architects P.P.C. of Ancona. The Mayor of Ancona, Daniele Silvetti, was also in attendance.
In the evening, the new lighting of the Passetto Staircase was inaugurated, highlighting its three key elements: functional lighting, architectural lighting, and creative lighting.
