Another record year for skyscrapers

iGuzzini is partnering with the "Tall Buildings"

iGuzzini partner of the 8th "Tall Buildings" Convention

Once again, iGuzzini is partnering with the "Tall Buildings" Convention, which will be held on 19 June between 10.00 and 18:00 at the Unicredit Tower in Milan. As with previous editions, the event is coordinated and promoted by Aldo Norsa, former professor at the IUAV University of Venice, in collaboration with the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat), an international body that operates in the field of tall buildings and sustainable urban planning.

The report presented recently by the CTBUH confirms a record year for the construction of skyscrapers over 200 metres tall: 144 (of which 15 are over 300 meters high) are the tall buildings completed during 2017.
The continuous proliferation trend experienced at global level made the number of these impressive buildings rise to 1,319 – a 402% increase compared to the early 2000s, when there were only 263 of them around. Among the buildings completed in 2017, the highest is the Ping An Finance Centre in Shenzhen, at 599 meters high, the world’s fourth tallest, followed by the Lotte World Tower of Seoul, which, at 555 meters, is the world’s fifth tallest. Within this latter, iGuzzini has recently illuminated the most luxurious hotel in Korea, the Signiel Hotel, whose architectural and lighting design are inspired by a common key element – height.

The conference, divided into a morning session dedicated to "Tall buildings in the world" and an afternoon one on "New Tall Buildings in Milan", is introduced by Stefano Boeri, Founding Partner of Stefano Boeri Architetti & President of the Triennale of Milan, Emilio Faroldi, Vice-Rector of Milan Polytechnic, Pierfrancesco Maran, Councillor for Urban Planning for the City of Milan, and Marco Recalcati, Head of Property Sales at UniCredit.
