Lighting Detectives Santiago

Santiago de Chile

iGuzzini supports the light-themed traveling seminar

Two days spent exploring the main streets of Santiago de Chile to observe the lighting and develop a new urban lighting project for the Chilean capital. This is the goal driving the Lighting Detectives Santiago initiative, sponsored by iGuzzini, and hosted for the first time in South America on 18 and 19 October.

The event organizer is the international non-profit group The Lighting Detectives. Born in Japan, the group aims to study the current state of the lighting in the host city and to develop alternative solutions that combat lighting pollution, a topic advocated by iGuzzini since the early ‘90s.

The protagonist of this year's edition is the Japanese lighting designer Kaoru Mende, who held a lectio magistralis in the National Museum of Fine Arts Auditorium on 18 October. The following day, a conference focusing on light as the fourth dimension of architecture was also held at the FAU Auditorium. A  presentation showcasing the results of the "Lighting Detectives Santiago" workshops concluded the event.
